Microsoft have released new service packs for both Windows XP and Windows Vista recently. If your computer is set to automatically update, then these will install on to your computers on their own. We have had no major problems with either service pack and our editing software so far. With Vista we have found some of the older programs, written before Vista was invented, do not work; but all programs that have been verified for use with Vista have been fine. We have also noticed that the performance of a Vista computer with SP1 installed is better than before.

Editing programs that have been ratified for Vista include Adobe Premiere CS3, Sony Vegas 8, Grass Valley Edius Neo (only Neo is ratified for Vista, not Edius Pro or Broadcast, which are scheduled to be vista certified in the second half of this year) and the soon to be released Avid Media Composer 3.
