For Avid we recommend that you use HP systems - specifically workstations that have been configured, had all the stupid trial software removed, and had backup install discs created. The new HP dual Xeon systems, the XW8600s, are just arriving but as a result we can do some special offers on the the XW8400s. The main difference is that the newer systems have slightly later model Xeon processors and a more up to date motherboard, so they will run slightly faster. They will also be able to have SAS back plates which means that you can connect faster external storage devices.

The XW8400s, however, are still very high spec computers and will happily run the new generation of Media Composer software which is about to be released. At their special offer price they are also about £500.00 cheaper then the XW8600s.
