64 Bit Premiere
CS5 is a large leap forward for Adobe Premiere - Premiere has now been re-born as a 64 bit application which means it will be able toaccess as much RAM as you have in your system, so will be more stable and faster. It will also be able to properly use multi-core processors such as the new i7 processors from Intel.
Mercury Playback Engine
Also added with CS5 is the "Mercury Playback Engine" - this gives you better performance with different types of video as well more realtime playback. This really comes into its own when used with the right kind of graphic card, where you can get multiple layers of effects (2D, 3D, colour correction etc..) even with compressed HD footage.Support for more formats
Adobe have also added supports for more types of video included digital SLR footage and RED Camera. Premiere now supports more formats directly in the timeline than most programs and with the Mercury playback engine, can edit them very well!Other additions
